Ohio UPMA scholarship winners
Grace is the granddaughter of Retired Postmaster Michael Bernhardt. Grace graduated form Lakota High School near Cincinnati.
While in school Grace founded a committee for New Students transition into the high school. This group would give students mentors that they go to throughout the year.
Grace played tennis for 4 years, basketball for 3 years, and vaarsity lacrosse for 2 years.
Grace was awarded that Star Award which is given to one senior that demonstrates leadership throughout school.
Grace started her own business running a stand at the Hamilton Historical Farmers Market selling cakes and cup cakes for the last 2 yrs.
In the summer she works at Kings Island as a supervisor at a food stand.
Grace will attend the University of Dayton and study Mechanical Engineering.
Grandson of Retired Postmaster H. Edward Howard. Hayden graduated from Union-Scioto Local Schools.
Hayden was a 10 yr. member of 4-H.
He played basketball for 2 years.
Hayden has donated many hours of service to his community.
Hayden played baseball and soccer for 4 years receiving All District in 2018 in both sports and All Ohio in soccer in 2018.
Hayden is a licensed soccer referee with Concussion training and Certified lifeguard with CPR training.
Hayden has been admitted into Lake Erie College to pursue and undergraduate degree in science or pre-med field. He then hopes to go on to graduate school to obtain a degree in Physical Therapy or Physician Assistant.

Claudia is the granddaughter of Hazel Boettcher.
laudia has played the viola for 11 years and has been in the school orchestra for 10 years. She participated in volleyball, taekwondo,Saxophone,violin, and tennis.
She is a certified lifeguard and a certified Scuba diver. She volunteers helping children at camps and art programs.
Claudia will attend the University of Iowa majoring in Mechanical engineering.
Scholarships are awarded annually at our State Convention to outstanding graduating high school students who are a son, daughter, or grandchild of an active or retired member of the Ohio Chapter of the UPMA, and will be entering their first year at a college, university, technical or vocational school, enrolled full time, during the academic year.
Each year the scholarship committee determines the total amount of the scholarships to be awarded,reviews the applications and selects the recipients of the scholarships. The Ohio Chapter is proud to play a part in furthering the education of these young students.
Tthe Ohio UPMA will be awarding two (2) $1000 scholarships. The Ohio Chapter retirees will be awarding an additional $1000 scholarship for a total of three (3) $1000 scholarships from the Ohio Chapter membership.
