2023 Ohio UPMA Scholarship was awarded to Averie Jacquemin. Averie is the granddaughter of Marie Martin, retired Postmaster of Covington
OH.
Averie will be attending the University of Cincinnati in the fall to major in Speech Pathology. Some of Averie's activities in high school were Varsity club and being a member of
the
Octagon Community Service. Averie was on the honor roll, principals list, played softball and swam on the swim team. Her greatest swim achievements are breaking two school records,
receiving athlete of the year, senior year, and swimming at the state level all four years.
This is a letter was received from Averie;
I was thrilled to learn of my selection for this honor. The generosity of UPMA members to award this scholarship is much appreciated. The money will help me earn my degree at the
University of Cincinnati. I promise I will work hard to become a success and be worthy of your confidence and trust.
2023 Ohio Retiree's Scholarship was awarded to Eva Rose Cinadr. Eva is the granddaughter of Joseph Cinadr retired Postmaster of
Mansfield OH.
Eva is planning to attend Ohio University this fall majoring in Education. Eva said that ever since she was a little girl she has always wanted to be a teacher.
During Eva's high school years she was a member of the Symphony & Chamber Orchestra, Varsity softball and she also was a four year Scholat Athlete.
Eva volunteered at the Worthington Resource Pantry for 5 years and was a camp counselor at the Softball Youth camp and Fit Kids camp in the summer.
It was great to meet Eva and her family when she attended our convention to receive her scholarship.
We wish our scholarship receipents all the best in their future endeavors.

Scholarships are awarded annually at our State Convention to outstanding graduating high school students who are a son, daughter, or grandchild of an active or retired member of the Ohio Chapter of the UPMA, and will be entering their first year at a college, university, technical or vocational school, enrolled full time, during the academic year.
Each year the scholarship committee determines the total amount of the scholarships to be awarded,reviews the applications and selects the recipients of the scholarships. The Ohio Chapter is proud to play a part in furthering the education of these young students.
The Ohio Chapter, UPMA will be awarding two (2) $1000 scholarships. The Ohio Chapter retirees will be awarding an additional $1000 scholarship for a total of three (3) $1000 scholarships from the Ohio Chapter membership.

The 2023 UPMA Scholarship Foundation application has been posted on the UPMA website. You can access the application at United PMA | Postmasters of America under the UPMA Retired tab. The application will also appear in the March issue of The Leader. All applications must be RECEVIED no later than July 15th.
