United Postmasters and Managers of America exists to support our membership through communication, education and representation.

Benefits of joining UPMA as a Postmaster, Manager, Supervisor or EAS Professional

          • UPMA is the only management organization that can represent you at Postal Headquarters on specific Postmaster issues, including the planning and development of pay policies and schedules and fringe benefit programs.

Join UPMA

What is UPMA?  How many times have you heard that question?

UPMA is the professional organization for leaders and those looking to become leaders in the Postal Service.  They offer many services to their members that are rarely found in our current atmosphere.

1. Training-UPMA helps with your Professional Development. They offer an online website with an educational section, in-person help through several career fairs.  Need help with your HERO profile, your 991?  We can help with that.

2. Communication-How many organizations give you so much information?  Our Ohio organization sends out a publication 5-6 times a year and the National organization sends out publications as well.  All contain information that is relevant to what is going on in our postal positions.

3. Support-UPMA has an executive board that is there to assist you in your desire to excel in the Postal Service.  They offer on and off the job support, because you will gain friends and I refer to it as a family.  MEMBERS are always there willing to help.

4. Representation-UPMA is there if you get into trouble or make a mistake.  We have top notch representatives that will stand by your side to help in any situation.  We have yearly training for anyone interested in helping their fellow Postmasters.  Let us know if you are willing to provide this assistance to our co-workers.  We can sign you up for the training.

5. Travel-I have done so much traveling with UPMA!  Our conventions are all over Ohio, there are also National Conventions.   Every year our National Convention is held in a different location.  A Legislative conference is held in Washington D.C.  every year.  We have officer training and member representative training too.

UPMA is currently offering a free year to EAS members.  Ohio UPMA is offering an incentive to anyone who signs up new members.  Please take an 1187 and visit your neighboring Postmaster.  Spread the word on UPMA and all they have to offer.  As always if I can help you in any way please don’t hesitate to call or email.

As a reminder, all USPS employees, regardless of their job titles, are eligible to join UPMA and the UPMA National Office is offering a sign-up incentive for all new members you recruit into UPMA.  You will receive $100 for every new EAS member and $50 for every new Associate member you sign up.  This is a great chance to support UPMA, help us expand our organization and help others enjoy the many benefits UPMA provides, from networking to personal and professional growth. It’s also a way to earn some extra money along the way!

All you have to do is talk to potential new members about all the benefits of a UPMA membership and invite them to join.  You can then sign them up online in 2-3 minutes by clicking on the link below.

United Postmasters and Managers of America (UPMA) > Form1187

You will need the following information:
1) Their EIN
2) Their date of birth
3) Their personal phone number
4) Their first and last name
5) Their home address
6) Their personal email address
7) Their current job position
8) Their finance number

At the end of the application, it will ask who was the person that most influenced your decision to join UPMA.  This is where you will need to make sure your name is entered so we know who to issue the incentive check to.

Once your total earnings reach $600 in a calendar year, the UPMA National Office will send you a W9 form that you will need to complete before any additional checks can be issued.  You will receive a form 1099 for payments of $600 or more in a calendar year.  If you do not reach $600 in a calendar year, you will not need to submit a W9 form, and you’ll not receive a form 1099.  If you wish, you can include your local state chapter of UPMA in the section at the end of the application that asks who most influenced your decision to join, and you will not receive a 1099 form for those members you signed up.

Thank you for your ongoing dedication and support of UPMA. Should you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
