UPMA MAKES A DIFFERENCE ON CAPITAL HILL:
Copied with permission from Facebook post by Edmund Carley.
So it happened again, mere weeks after UPMA goes to The Hill, a Postal Reform Bill is introduced, this time in the Senate! Congratulations to Government Relations Director Bob Levi, UPMA National Leadership but especially to all the UPMA Members Nationwide that influenced Congress to take this action, through lobbying efforts everywhere. Now is the time to redouble our efforts, contact your representatives today, HR 756 must pass the House, S 2629 must get out of committee and pass the Senate, then we can hammer out the details, get a Presidential signature and finally get real Postal Reform. Remember the time frame is tight; we talked in DC about May 1st being a realistic deadline for passage in this Congress. Thank you for all your efforts to date.
Now is the time to remember... Together We Can!
Task Force Convened to Study U.S. Postal Service's Finances
President Trump recently convened a federal task force by executive order to investigate the U.S. Postal Service’s (USPS) finances and operations.
In issuing the order, Trump stated it is an effort to put USPS on a sustainable financial path. The president believes the agency must be restructured to avoid the necessity of a bailout by taxpayers in the future.
The task force will be given 120 days to submit a report with recommendations and will study numerous factors, including pricing in the package delivery market.
