The UPMA Ohio Chapter has chosen 4 Paws for Ability, https://4pawsforability.org/ as the charity we will support at this year’s national convention at the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio. 4 Paws for Ability is a nonprofit, 501©(3) organization whose mission is to place quality service dogs with children with disabilities and veterans who have lost use of limbs or hearing and educate the public regarding use of service dogs in public places. They will be attending the convention at Kalahari, speaking at both the Church Service on Sunday and the General Session on Monday, along with hosting an exhibit table and accepting donations for their worthy cause.
We also have the opportunity to do more with a group who partners with them, https://funds2orgs.com/ The story of The Funds2Orgs Group developed through the years. It started with a single shoe that washed ashore after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. At the time, Wayne Elsey was the president of an international shoe manufacturing company. Wayne went on to establish one of the largest nonprofits in the United States, helping people affected by some of the world’s most significant natural disasters, including the Indian Ocean tsunami, Hurricane Katrina and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. He led efforts to ship over 20 million pairs of shoes to people and places hurt by natural disasters.
For those chapters that choose to participate, gently used shoes will be collected at UPMA Chapter Conventions this Spring and Summer; arrangements can be made for pick up through Lou Stuckey, contact below. We will also have collection stations for shoes at Kalahari. Shoes will be donated around the world in the name of United Postmasters and Managers of America.
If you are interested in having your chapter participate, please contact Lou Stuckey at email@example.com for more information.
